Summer Trend Report: What's Good

summer-fashion-2015-trend-report

It’s summertime and the livin’s easy.   Or at least it’s sunny and warm in most places.  Either way it’s a new season and that means we have an excuse to shop.  Read on for my top 3 must haves for summer.

1.       Espadrilles

Espadrilles certainly aren’t new to this particular summer but designers are offering the classic shoe in new and especially fantastic styles.  I’m dying over these suede scalloped Chloe slip-ons in the prettiest of pinks but with gold grommets to counter the sweetness.  And these Vince platform sandals will go with everything you own, I promise.  These adorable Soludos with pineapple embroidery are more wallet friendly, super on trend right now and perfect for days when you’re feeling cheeky.

2.       Off the shoulder tops and dresses

Your shoulders are sexy, ladies, so show them off.  I’m all about this easy breezy look for summer.  Dig how Liz Cherkasova of Late Afternoon blog styles this look here, here and here.  Try this A Piece Apart top that would look great with denim cut offs or a pair of wide leg pants.  This little Keepsake number (on sale!) has a sexier, less boho-y vibe for a night out.  This dress by Reformation works as perfectly for the beach (maybe with a pair of espadrilles!) as it does for evening cocktails.  BTW, if you’re not familiar with Reformation yet I suggest you get on that STAT.  This DTLA based label is committed to sustainable fashion and manufactures most of their products in their own sewing factory.  By cutting out the middleman and selling online and in their own boutiques, they eliminate traditional retail markups and create dope clothes at a fraction of the environmental impact generated by most fashion brands.  For more on the sustainable fashion movement, read my interview with Forever Faded Denim designer Jessica Till.

3.       Super fab sunnies

The perfect sunnies are kind of mandatory for summertime, right? Right.  If you’ve got serious duckets to drop on sunglasses the Dior ‘So Real’ are as cool as they get.  If you have rent to pay and like to eat every day then consider these classic aviators by Marc by Marc Jacobs (on sale!) or these round sunnies from Sole Society.  And you can’t go wrong with Ray Ban Wayfarers- try them in a fun color like this blue denim pair.
