Shangela's 2015 New Year's Eve Playlist

You probably remember Shangela from seasons two and three of RuPaul's Drag Race. While she may not have won either season, she might just be one of the biggest stars to emerge from the series. Shangela has earned her "legendary" status through electrifying performances, television spots and original music. Shangela is one queen that you can't help but love as her star continues to rise in 2015.

What was your most Memorable New Years Eve?
I remember a NYE back when I was 10 years old. My grandpa was still alive and he woke me up to toast the New Year with him. He had a glass of red wine, and of course, I had grape juice. But it was really special that he wanted to share that moment with me and I'll never forget it.

New Year's Resolution for 2015?
To continue to focus on being happy, healthy and confident that whatever I set my mind to I can achieve. This next year will be all about building an even stronger relationship with my friends, family and fans that have supported me to get where I am today. 2015 is gonna be a great one!

Shangela's NYE Playlist:
"Timber" by Pitbull feat. Kesha
I love this song. It makes me dance and I think NYE should be FILLED with dancing!

"I Gotta Feeling" by The Black Eyed Peas
NYE is a night that you should enjoy, whether you're going out or staying in... and you know I love some good positive, optimistic thinking. This song hits that right on the head.

"Werqin' Girl" by Shangela
MY SONG! Yes! One of my new years resolutions is to always be a better PROFESSIONAL in the next year.

"Wobble" by V.I.C.
I love a good line dance! And this song always gets bodies on the dance floor.

"Work Bitch" by Britney Spears
You can't have a NYE playlist without a solid Britney dance number.

"Nobody's Supposed to be Here (Dance Mix)" by Deborah Cox
I love working up a good sweat on the dance floor and this song gives it to me! I love Miss Deborah, I saw her one Pride in Vancouver and she turned it OUT! She will forever rock me into the next year.

"We Can't Stop" by Miley Cyrus
Miley had such an awesome year. It was a toss up between this song and Wrecking Ball, but if it's for NYE we gotta turn the party so this one wins.

"It's Raining Men" by The Weather Girls
This year brought a lot of firsts for me. One of them was performing with my drag mother Alyssa Edwards for World Pride in Toronto. It started to rain right before we went on stage and the promoters thought we'd have to cancel the show... but me and Alyssa quickly grabbed some clear trash bags to cover our dresses, snatched some umbrellas out of the lost and found and hit the stage IN THE RAIN to perform this one! It was amazing. Afterwards, a rainbow appeared. Unforgettable.

"Survivor" by Destiny's Child & "Partition" by Beyoncé
I couldn't choose just one! You know I love Queen Bey! Survivor means a lot to me because last year I broke my leg in two places while performing in NYC. I worked really hard and got myself well ahead of schedule and back on stage. I'm a real survivor and I'm going into the next year feeling invincible. And Partition... well, just because... it's BEYONCE!

"Closing Time" by Semisonic
I remember when this song came out. I had to be in like 7th grade or something... but I remember I went to a friend's party and we all sang this song at the top of our lungs. It talks about closing time in a bar... none of us had even been to a bar! Haha! But it also talks about falling in love at the end of the night, and that's what I'm always hopeful for... that one good kiss as the ball drops and the champagne bottles pop. Maybe 2015 will be the year I fall in love... it's a really hopeful song: "Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end."

Shangela will be launching a Haus of Edwards tour in 2015 alongside drag family members Alyssa Edwards and Laganja Estranja. Tour dates will be released January 1 on SHANGELA.COM

Shangela also has a new one-hour stand up comedy cabaret show called "Straight Outta Paris" that she will be touring around the globe in the new year.
