You've heard us screaming with excitement before about Gwen Stefani's 3rd solo era and new album pending since she joined The Voice back in 2014. Baby Don't Lie? Spark The Fire? They were... enough to get us warmed up... She worked with some great producers and songwriters but something still didn't feel GWEN or as ICONIC as What You Waiting For?, Hollaback Girl, or Wind It Up just yet. Gwen really expanded who she was comfortable working with and appeared on as many collaborations as she could get her hands on such as: My Heart Is Open with Maroon 5, Together with Calvin Harris, Run Away with Snoop Dogg, and most recently Kings Never Die with Eminem. It was perfect timing during her surge of exposure surrounding The Voice to also release new 5 new Harajuku Lovers Fragrances, with her other brands L.A.M.B. and gx still thriving, as well as strike up an endorsement deal with MasterCard Priceless Surprises which gave her the opportunities to perform full length solo concerts in both Los Angeles and New York City.
However, this past August the announcement came out that Gwen filed for divorce from husband of 13 years Gavin Rossdale. Gwen kept a low profile and didn't seem to be too shaken up during the first couple episodes of season 9 of The Voice but during her MasterCard show in New York City in October as an encore she debuted her new single Used To Love You which will hit you right where it hurts! Candidly written about the divorce, ironically she put it out during the SAME 20th Anniversary week of No Doubt's Tragic Kingdom album being released. Since then Gwen has been hard on her radio promotion trail and revealed that she was ready to release a new record last year but because she only 'curated' the record and wasn't involved in writing every single song it didn't feel right for her and she ended up scrapping the entire album and starting fresh. Her new songwriting team sounds like FIRE though!!! Semi Precious Weapons frontman Justin Tranter has been her main new songwriting partner, who is behind the successful recent hits of Fifth Harmony, Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber. She's also worked with Rick Nowles who has worked on Lana Del Rey's records. Our favourite Gwen fan site beaconstreetonline.net has compiled a list of NEW song titles both rumoured and some confirmed by Gwen herself in recent radio interviews. You can check their site for the full detailed list which also includes the songwriters and producers credits, but for now here's some new confirmed song titles that have us going B-A-N-A-N-A-S:
"You Don't Know Me"
"Make Me Like You"
She says the album starts off sassy and sarcastic, evolves into tender songs like Used To Love You and then ends really joyfully - it's a whole journey. The new album should be out early 2016, and there's talk of Misery being the second single! Here's the music video for the first single Used To Love You.
