I was recently shopping with a friend who casually mentioned that she didn’t own a moto jacket or a pair of ankle boots. She said it in the same offhand way you might say “I had a salad for lunch”. As if it was no big deal. I was floored. I’m always amazed when people, especially people who shop with me, reveal that their closet is missing some crucial item. Like my friend who once told me she didn’t own a black blazer. Unacceptable, I say. There a certain pieces everyone should own and a moto jacket and at least one pair of ankle boots fall into that category. These are items that can take jeans and a T shirt to next level status or add the perfect amount of edge to a dressier look. A moto jacket is the wardrobe equivalent of a cupcake; it makes everything better. And how one gets through the fall and winter (or spring and summer for that matter) without a great pair of ankle boots is beyond me. As usual, lovely readers, I’ve got your back. I’ve rounded up some of the coolest options at a variety of price points below. Shop on, babes.
I love me a classic black moto jacket but this pretty pale blue quilted one from ASOS is a fresh option and the color is super on trend.
Zara is known for reasonably priced leather goods and this is a prime example. This is a classic version with quilted and zippered sleeves to make it special.
This IRO beauty is actually on sale at Shopbop (you’re welcome). The burgundy is kind of perfect for fall and I love the double belt at the waist.
Saint Laurent $4,990
In case you’re looking to spend 2-3 months rent on outerwear, this Saint Laurent lambskin jacket would be the way to do it. The black zippers make this different and the leather looks like butter even in the picture, doesn’t it? A hefty price tag for sure but if you roll like that, it’s a total investment piece that you’ll wear forever.
Nine West $125
Nine West calls these their ‘Why Not’ boots which is exactly what I asked myself when I stumbled across them. This wine colored suede is callin’ my name and at $125, they’re a steal. Add to bag.
Um, everyone needs a pair of haircalf leopard booties. Seriously, I feel like these boots will change your life. Plus, they’re on sale and have a cool girl mod vibe that I am truly digging.
Rag & Bone $525
Rag & Bone’s Newbury bootie is a classic style that sticks around season after season. I have these is grey suede but I’m feeling this brown leather version. My boys were kind enough to add just the right amount of distressing so you’ll instantly look like you’ve had these forever…in a good way.
Snakeskin boots are pretty much Everything right now and these buckled Givenchy Chelsea boots are so rad I could cry that they’re not mine. These are boots that are worth saving up for…or opening a new credit card.
