FOUR FOR THE FLOOR: May 29, 2014

Introducing a new series to IshTalk: Four for the Floor. Every Thursday, I'll be sharing four new uptempo jams for you to blast at the gym, club or even in your own living room. If you like what you're listening to, support these artists on iTunes, Beatport or wherever their music is sold.

"Give Me Tonight" by Shannon
Freestyle at its best. "Give Me Tonight" was the follow-up to "Let the Music Play" in 1984 and remains one of my all-time favourite club jams. It's impossible not to get taken in by that unrelentless freestyle beat.

"Birthday (Picchiotti Discopia Mix)" by Katy Perry
We are in the middle of a re-birth of disco and I couldn't be more excited! Katy Perry knows how to write great melodies that crack the charts and heat up the dance floor - this glistening track is no different. Mark Picchiotti's remix of her current single "Birthday" is a glamorous throwback to classic disco.

"I Was Gonna Cancel (Moto Blanco Remix)" by Kylie Minogue
There's a weird psychic connection between Kylie and I. Maybe it's the fact that Kylie and I share a birthday... or maybe it's because I once dated a girl in high school who looked exactly like her. Kylie delivers incredible anthems for the dancefloor... and when you pair that with the disco-house talents of Moto Blanco... the results are out of this world!

"Calling All Hearts (Frankie Knuckles & Eric Kupper Remix)" by DJ Cassidy feat. Robin Thicke & Jessie J.
The vocal star power in this track is insane. What makes this one so special though is the remix treatment it was given by house legends, Frankie Knuckles (the late Godfather of House) and Eric Kupper. That pulsating bass-line and funky guitar riff are reminiscent of classic Nile Rodgers and it is impossible to ignore. Even as I listen to this remix while typing, I cannot help but dance in my chair.
