Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse
Def Jam Records 2014

Summer is almost here and I'm in dire need of some hot new jams. I need some great new music in my iTunes almost as badly as Mariah needs a hit single and a new photoshop retoucher. Hunty, on that album cover, she looks like something out of a Madame Tussaud museum.

I have always been a Mariah Carey fan but haven't been able to get into either of her previous two underwhelming albums. So as you can imagine, I was very skeptical when downloading "Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse."

"Best thing to happen to your ass was me" sings Mariah on the track Thirsty, and boy is she right! This nostalgic collection of new songs has what fans have been longing for: a 90's throwback with hints of R&B, gospel and disco peppered throughout.

While there are still a few tracks on this album that are quite forgettable, overall, this is Mariah's most solid effort in nearly a decade and ranks among her best albums. But let's be honest, she's in dire need of a top-ten single. Do you think there are any strong contenders on this album?

Must-download tracks: #Beautiful (feat. Miguel), Thirsty, Make it Look Good, You Don't Know What to Do (feat. Wale), Meteorite, Camouflage, The Art of Letting Go
